It took a while to get use to assisted living. It is different that independent living, but the staff have worked to make it pleasant. The activities department here has been what I have enjoyed the most.

Facility is undergoing sorely needed renovations. The staff clearly show a loving and caring attitude. The director is a progressive and forward thinking person. She is truly hands on. Would be acceptable if it were located closer to my home.

I rate Savannah Court of the Palm Beaches a three which means fair. The bathrooms and carpets were dirty. The staff was helpful and pleasant, however, it didn't have a clean and cheerful atmosphere.

Too dark!

Savannah Court of Palm Beaches is nice but it is an older community. The style of the community is like bedrooms in a house. The wall paper is very dark and the doors are a very dark brown. The community could use some updating and paint. The staff were very well rounded and able to address all of my concerns.

First experience with assisted living

The director was very helpful in setting everything up. The room was ready to move into and all the paper work was prepared and explained. My Dad has only been there less than a month. His major complaint is the food, and the cleaning of his room (one room with a bath). They do have apartments there and maybe he would adapt to that environment better.

The staff is very friendly. My concern is that my dad gets his meds from the VA which he has a very low co-pay. They have been ordering his meds from the local pharmacies and now I have a bill of over $1000. The place seems to be clean, however we're having issues with bugs. I have addressed it with them as well as my father. They have sprayed but it is still an ongoing issue. They came into my dads apartment once without knocking, which has not been a problem again.

Friendly staff, but not a great atmosphere

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. Everyone here seemed very nice, the staff were all friendly and helpful. However the community just didn't have a very uplifting atmosphere, it just felt drab and depressing.

There is virtually no parking. The food is mediocre at best. The laundry service would be a three to a four. The best redeeming quality is that the staff is very friendly.

They are about average.

They are about average. They all have an odor but this is no more or less than others. The carpet needs to be replaced, and some deferred maintenance kind of things. The management staff is pretty aloof, but the daily staff is pretty good. The food seems to be ok.

Small Rooms

It was fine, the units were small and you didn't get as much space for your money. It was also multi-story, so you had to ride elevators, and we didn't like that.

Tour experience

We did not have a very good tour experience with Colonial at Fort Lauderdale. The gentleman who was showing us around would only talk to my husband and not me even though it was my parent who was going to potentially be moving into the facility. He also did not show us the memory care area which is where my loved one would be staying, so we had no judgement of what it was like.

Residents need more stimulation. Too much sitting and tv watching. Nurses need to be out checking on patients instead of in the office chatting.

Disappointing

What started out to be a solution to a concerning situation became a nightmare. Everything that was suppose to be provided to my family member to insure safety and well being was not. After awhile it became quite clear that this was not the right place for someone who needed supervision in many of the daily tasks like showering, and other activities that needed assistance for safety purposes. There are no emergency bells or telephones in the rooms. No one encourages them out for activities. And I believe lack of monitoring residents is a big safety concern. I really saw not much assistance with anything.

friendly staff but has staffing shortage

We do think that [name removed] is a really good manager but just like many places right they are struggling with staffing. We have to remind them to get our loved one up during the days so they do not miss a meal. It does take awhile for things to get fixed when requested, and house keeping needs improvement. It has been good lately but we do have to bring things to their attention more then what we should. We do think it is a nice community but just needs some improvements.
