She first lived in assisted living for a short time before needing memory care support. Mom also has severe macular degeneration and a cochlear implant for her hearing loss which affects her balance. Since I also live in Champaign, I have been able to visit my mom daily, interact with the staff on a frequent basis and understand the challenges and demands they face on a daily basis. Yet, I have observed their caring, kindness and love for the residents they serve. They provide not only support, but friendship.
