Great Events/Social Engagement
A.F. - Loved one of resident/client
My mother loves to be part of something that gives her purpose. She worked for decades and in retirement needs to feel, well... NEEDED. Even during this uncertain time of social distancing, masking and pandemic awareness, the Arbors provides great opportunities for social engagement. My mother's favorite moments are spent in bible study and she speaks highly of those who seek her out to pray, lead and join discussions. The staff is KIND and always warm upon my arrival - especially G & C. One key member of my mother's original care team - R - will be missed and is a HUGE reason this review leans positive.
The only criticism? a courtesy knock, arrival announcement & PAUSE, BEFORE entering would be greatly appreciated; While I realize some residents' medical issues require a 'walk-in' approach due to wheelchair or hearing issues, my mother is able-bodied & hearing is still 100%. Some staff enter WHILE knocking & should simply wait for response first.
I am at PEACE with my decision .

Dear [name removed[ and [name removed],
Just a heartfelt Thank You for your patience and understanding in guiding me through the process of getting my mother into The Arbors Assisted Living at Hauppauge.
It's only Day 4 - but already we hear the joy and contentment in Mom's voice as she describes her day. She speaks fondly of all the festive decorations, the variety of food, the fun activities ( eg. Musical Magic with [name removed] and [name removed]).
She adores all the members of the staff- she finds them friendly, supportive and kind. She was appreciative of the maintenance man who hung up her (new) TV.
I am thrilled that my mom is settling in and that she loves her new home. I am at PEACE with my decision.
I will continue to be your biggest cheerleader. I have told all my co-workers about the warm and inviting feeling you get when you enter Arbors at Hauppauge.
Good quality for the money. Christopehr - Child of resident/client
I would recommend it. It seems to be a pretty decent place, and my loved one seems happy. The times that I've been there, it's been very clean. And there's always somebody cleaning something every time I went there. Activities are still somewhat limited due to Covid, but they are making an effort.
My Mother Loves the Community D P - Child of resident/client
I would recommend you go and tour this community for your loved one. This is a very social community. Bingo, games, and more are some activities available for the residents to participate in. My loved one enjoys the food here.
The staff are great to work with any concerns or questions I may have over my loved one.
I have peace of mind knowing she's happy and I don't have to worry. Julia - Child of resident/client
First we did a virtual tour, and then we brought Mom to visit in person. It's a smaller place, and they take very good care of their residents. My mother feels well cared for and is happy. What more could you ask for at this stage in her life? Everything is spotless. They come in every day to clean. They make sure she gets her medications on time. She's made some friends. And she gets her hair and nails done at the onsite salon. The staff do a lot to keep the residents involved and help them get acclimated . They go out of their way and actively reach out to the residents to draw them into the activities. They have the bus going out again to take them on outings. She really likes the food. I think it's a great value.
A Great Value TW - Sibling of resident/client
I felt they were very easy to work with and talk with when I was calling places to find a place for my loved one. They've been very responsive when I've called. I haven't had any issues at all. When I go in, I see other community members participating in games and activities, so there is plenty going on if you choose to participate. My loved one tells me the food is okay, nothing special. Overall I feel like it's a good value - they provide good services and good amenities.
My review of The Arbors at Hauppauge anonymous - Child of resident/client
We are from our of state but from what we could tell they were seemingly attentive and helpful, our loved one was in during the height of covid so given the circumstances they did try their best. At time they were short staffed, and we were not overly pleased with the meals. We were able to visit a couple of times here and there and help our loved one move in, and the community was spotless. The activities were shut down for awhile but when they were open they have amazing opportunities for residents to stay busy, they took field trips almost every single day. We can really praise them when it comes to their activities. For the money it was a pretty good experience but it was just a difficult time and difficult circumstances.
A Home for My Dad

My dad moved into The Arbors at Hauppauge a little over a year ago. Within 30 minutes of arriving, he chose not to stay in his beautiful room, but to join in on a Scrabble game, where he met Yvonne, Dana, and Astrid. Since then, he’s met more of the Arbor Angels, and has spent his days socializing, attending prayer services, painting, and dancing! He loves the people and the food. As for the place? He calls it his home.

I am so pleased with the Arbors of Hauppauge. I was truly concerned with mom staying at home
alone. The Arbors is what mom needed. Residents were everywhere, staff friendly and helping mom make new friends it was just an all around homie feel. I can not thank everyone enough for all that have done this past year. kudos!
thank you thank you!

my mom recently moved into the community. From day one staff was so friendly I felt like I already knew everyone. My mom is a social butterfly and fit right in with the residents at her dining table, they even attend activities together. I could not be happier. Seeing my mom adjust to a new way of life has eased any fear may of had.
Wonderful, attentive care

My mom has been living at the Arbors Hauppauge for 3+ years. We are very pleased by the level of care she receives. Recreation, under the guidance of [name removed], engages the seniors in stimulating activities. [name removed] and her staff look out for the residents in a loving manner. When my mom had trouble with her television, [name removed] came up to mom’s room and showed her how to work the remote. She painted the buttons with nail polish so mom would know what buttons to press: Wellness is very attentive to her needs and returns our calls in a timely manner.

My first experience was my mom sharing she met a lovely woman. [name removed].
[name removed] gave me a tour of The Arbors after my mom felt this was where she wanted to live after my dad passed. [name removed] was professional, kind, understanding, gentle and took time to meet my moms needs. The Arbors is really a home away from home. I requested that my mom be at a meal table that would be suited for her. Done!!! I requested that if they can keep an extra eye at the beginning since my mom was anxious. Done!!! The workers/angels truly care about the residents/family members. [names removed] ( a nickname for a worker by my mother ) [names removed] are just a few of the staff members that are amazing. There are so many more. Dropping of clothes to snacks no matter what I am greeted with a smile and thankful that my mother has found a place that she feels same. Move in day: Forgot to change the heat in the room. Mentioned it on the way out. Woman says dont worry we check on all residents every 2 hours. [name removed] was clocked out but offered to go back and make my mom comfortable. Not many workers go above and beyond but at the Arbors maybe they are really just angels disguised as workers. There is no other place!!!!
Dad’s Home Sweet Home

Moving a parent into an assisted living is an emotional and life-changing experience, filled with sleepless nights, second guessing, and endless behind-the-scenes legwork. But the staff at the Arbors of Hauppauge made the transition for my dad seamless. He moved in at the end of January, and despite all of the uncertainties going on in our world at the moment, my dad is safe, well-cared for, and happy. It is the biggest piece of mind I could ask for.
My first contact was a phone call with [name removed]. [name removed] patiently listened to my dad’s story, answered all of my questions, gave me tips, gentle advice, and explained the next steps that followed.
On Tour Day, [name removed] took us through the Arbors of Hauppauge’s beautiful and spacious facility, and all it had to offer. It was impressive to say the least. But it wasn’t the building that led us to our decision. It was the communal energy of the people within its walls. The staff was nurturing and bubbly towards both the residents, and each other. The residents were friendly, and happy, and shared pieces of their own journeys with my husband and I. I could have sat and chatted with them for hours. Several ended our brief visit with, “I hope your dad will come.”
From there, we met the Wellness director, [name removed], who has since moved on, yet still deserves to be praised. My dad’s move was delayed when he fell and broke his hip, days before discharging from the Nursing Home. We were devastated, but for over two months, [name removed] visited him, and kept contact with us, and helped to lift our spirits until dad was finally able to move.
My dad’s move in day was on [date removed], and to my delight, he didn’t want to stay in his beautiful room decorated with all of his favorite things. Instead, he opted to go to “Happy Hour” and it most definitely was. We had root beer floats - one of his favorite’s - and met [name removed], who my dad loves to pieces. He played Scrabble with [names removed] - who became his friends, and who he dances with at parties.
Since that day, we’ve met so many wonderful people... [names removed]... the care, recreation, housekeeping, and front desk teams. Every last person is patient, friendly, and willing to help and answer any questions.
We are in the midst of a pandemic, and visits with my dad fluctuate between limited and prohibited. But my dad is safe, well-cared for, and happy. And for this, I am content, and grateful to the angels at the Arbors of Hauppauge.
Not satisfied with care anonymous - Loved one of resident/client
We chose The Arbors at Hauppauge because of its location, it was close to my brother and I so we could see her often. Then there was a lock down so we couldn't visit which was an issue. She shared a room with someone else so it was a little tight on space. She was satisfied with the food, but it did become repetitive after a while. I wouldn't trust the management, they have not been very helpful. I would not recommend, I believe they were understaffed on the weekends.
Would recommend this community anonymous - Loved one of resident/client
Our loved one moved in right before COVID, and unfortunately we have not been able to go back and visit. They have stepped up their activities, currently they are allowing the residents to do things in small groups. The rooms are okay in size, and when we first came to visit the community was pretty clean and the staff was very friendly.
Friendly, Happy Atmosphere Ray Liotti - Loved one of resident/client
I would highly recommend the community. I looked at one other place and they were almost twice the amount of money.
This community is friendly and has community atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be happy and enjoying themselves. It seemed very nice.
The only problem my loved one has is that she is bored, since no can visit her.
The food has been very good according to my loved one.
Comfortable and Accommodating anonymous - Loved one of resident/client
Before COVID they had a variety of activities.
This is a more reasonably priced than other communities I saw. This had more included in the base price, than other communities. This is a good deal if you're not Rockefeller.
I feel the community is welcoming and accommodating. Since we can't go into the community, we can drop items off at the door, and they get the items to our loved one quickly.
The Arbors at Hauppauge is clean and well kept.
