Worth visiting Brookdale University Park and comparing it with others.

The experience here has been good. The food of course is the thing that has been rather disappointing, but it has been improving. There's a learning curve after living in a house for 55 years. Moving here was a bit of a shock, but we're getting used to it. The apartment has a washer and dryer in the unit, which is a big plus, and everything has been just fine.

Perfect fit

I chose Brookdale because of the size of the rooms, the closet space, the view and the location is close to my daughter. The meals here are good quality. We are still under quarantine even though we have gotten our shots. I have the biggest, most beautiful room I have ever seen. I have a mountain and downtown Denver view. I would recommend to others looking.

Meals not delivered; more than a few missed

Brookdale University Park doesn’t care about their residents receiving meals. They continually miss bringing meals to my uncle that lives there. They give my uncle lame excuses why his meal hasn’t been delivered. It usually happens on Sunday, when he only gets two meals a day. He calls the front desk and they tell him it’s out being delivered. He waits another two hours and calls back and they say the kitchen is closed and they can’t get a meal to him. Nobody wants to be responsible or take blame or help him out. That is not fair when he can’t cook for himself and he’s paying for this service....they work for him, not him working for Brookdale. They need to step up and give the care that he is paying them for.

The staff here are exemplary. They go to the utmost extreme to make us comfortable. The food is palatable Thanks to a very caring leadership the lockdown is very difficult to bear, but we realize it's for our own safety. Having lived in another Brookdale facility, we feel we are extremely qualified to make these observations. [Name removed] is worth his weight in gold. Don't lose him!! Also [name removed].

I have been happy living here at Brookdale during my first 3 months when it was fully active. People were warm and friendly, comfortable apartments, great activities, good dining, and transportation. Since the shutdown due to COVID-19 10 weeks ago it has been very isolating with long days. The staff has been wonderful and have done a great job keeping us safe. I am looking forward to walking outside again.

I am so very thankful for them taking our vitals twice a day during this Covid-19 pandemic. They truly care for all of us. They have kept us in our apartments so we are away from any infection. This is a great deal of extra work for them as they bring us all 3 meals a day, request for lunch and dinner, and our mail and packages too! They all wear masks and they provide us all with masks as well. They make my day with their smiling eyes and seem happy to be seeing us. I am so thankful that I am here with such wonderful and kind employees and Director too.

Review of Brookdale University Park

Except for the quarantine, everything is fine. I moved in last September 2019. For the first six months, it was great. Nice staff, nice building, great apartment, and great service. Then we spent 2 months in quarantine. We were not allowed out of our apartments, even to walk on the grounds. Every time we were about to get out there would be another case. We had to stay in even though there was no way we oud have caught anything because we had already been in quarantine. Some of the staff members said that if we didn't like it we could leave! Being told to leave was offensive. It also sometimes seemed like we were being treated like children, "Go to your room." Other senior living places allowed residents to go out on the grounds even when in quarantine. I know the staff is trying to keep us safe, but keeping in for 2 months isn't good for either our physical or mental health.

I have been here for two years. Age 91 fairly good health. It was hard at first — the dining room scheduled times (in poor hearing), but it didn't take long to see how lucky we are to have this time with others — great menus, waiters/esses, kitchen staff. I love the independence that I have here, and grateful to a staff who takes care of our different likes and needs, and also, "where everyone knows your name."

Except for the food preparation and quality, Brookdale has been a good choice for us. We have lived here for 4 yrs and until the pandemic, life has been enjoyed. The staff is always polite and helpful and they deserve gratitude and accolades for all they do for us. We are thankful.

Review of Brookdale University Park

This facility was chosen by my 2 youngest children, a daughter who lives about a mile away and a son in Bromfield, CO. I had no input as I lived in Stafford City, VA in a 55+ single-family house. I was turning 80 and decided to sell, then move to a facility for seniors in that area. My oldest child lived about 3 miles away and 4 hr drive south in VA. Son decided to move here because the local daughter did a lot of travel for work and he didn't want me to that far from any family.

Brookdale employees work hard, I think sometimes they are understaffed, the food is mediocre. I also think that they don't have information with the tenants. I also think that the plants and the potted plants in the entry are not maintained. It's a beautiful building and should be "up-dated."

This critique has been on my desk for the longest. I find everything here agreeable. The management is very professional. The staff does a good job and they are helpful. The food is much better than average, in fact is it good. This facility deserves a very good rating.

Over the 8 years I have lived here, it has always been a good choice. Sure, times are different in the past few years, due to Denver's growth but our leaders have done their best and we are grateful.
